Axel Bellinder - Composer

Short Biography

Axel Bellinder (Full Jon Axel Bellinder, born 1980). Stockholm based composer for TV, Video games and film/media.

First music produced and published (a bit oddly maybe) for the for Japanese boyband scene. Writing and producing songs together with Stefan Engblom (today one half of Dada Life). Quite successfully resulting in a few platina selling songs/albums and a documentary produced by Swedish SVT (Big in Japan).

After a co-writing trip to Tokyo (2007) requests to do music and sound design for TV captured my interest and I found great joy in composing for moving images. It was something with finding the right mood, timing cues to visuals and the work together with other creatives that was super inspiring. I was later asked to join a friend/colleagues studio and made the jump from J-pop to TV. We later founded Sergeant Tom a composer/sound design studio aimed mainly for the Swedish TV/Marketing.

Some noteworthy projects:

Channel ID for Swedish Kanal 9 and Finnish channel Kutonen

This Exquisite Forest, an online collaborative animation project. From 2012 – 2014, The project was conceived by Chris Milk and Aaron Koblin, and  produced by the Google Data Arts Team and Tate Modern. A physical exhibit at Tate Modern was open for over one year beginning on July 23, 2012 and allowed visitors to participate.

Concerning Violence by Göran Hugo Olsson was awarded with the Cinema Fairbindet prize at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival. I was contracted to write some cues for this important film

From early age I always had a great interest in video games and the impact the music had on me, still have some of the great motifs on my mind. Sergeant Tom did some adaptive projects (Exquisite forest being one of them). That led me to look into the different audio engines used for the major game studios. Wwise, Fmod, Elias

Star Stable Entertainment (game studio) was one of our clients and I did a lot of soundtracks for the game. In 2018 I joined the company and the project of starting up a sound and music department in-house still continuing my favorite work as ”court composer”. The added layer of complexity with creating interactive/adaptive music structures is one of the most inspiring things I’ve experienced this last few years.
